Forestry and Agrifoods
When a farm produces food for consumers, and when a consumer buys food for their family, both are interested in the safety and the quality of the product. A safe product does not pose a health threat to the consumer through bacterial contaminants or chemical residues. A quality product is one that meets the colour, taste, texture, smell and other attributes expected by the consumer. This section describes the approaches taken to assuring food safety and quality from a legal and voluntary perspective, and from the perspectives of the producer, processor and consumer.
